Your Breast Reduction Guide

Choosing a breast reduction is not just a matter of personal choice or merely a desire to appear more attractive. People often fail to recognize the struggles that women living with overly developed breasts have to face in their everyday life. Whether it is from development or changes associated with weight gain, pregnancy or aging, it is not unusual to have excessively large or drooping breasts and it is more common problem with women who over-weigh on the scale.

If you find yourself familiar with these five warning signs, a breast reduction surgery may be right for you because it can eliminate these problems:

1: Pain due to heavy breasts
2: Larger breasts limit your lifestyle
3: Difficult to find clothes that fit
4: It makes you self-conscious
5: Your body has changed after childbirth

What is A Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction is a cosmetic procedure designed to reduce the overall size of the large breast while preserving an attractive and natural breast shape.  This is accomplished by removing breast tissue in addition to removing excess skin to make breasts firmer and well shaped. For many women, this procedure can be life changing.  You’ll have a fresh boost of confidence and no longer feel like your extra heavy breasts are the only thing people notice about you.

How is it done?
A breast reduction can address both physical and emotional concerns with minimal discomfort and downtime, the procedure removes excess breast tissue and skin and reshapes your bust to form smaller, uplifted natural breasts. It is an out-patient procedure and performed on day care basis, so you can go home after surgery and even return to work within a few days. The breast reduction scars will not be visible in clothing or most bathing suits but are visible when you are completely undressed.  Amazingly, over the course of time these tend to smooth out.

Are the Results Permanent?
Following a proper Breast Reduction Surgery, your breast size should remain fairly constant unless you gain or lose a significant amount of weight or become pregnant. The results of a breast reduction remain fairly stable for life-long if your follow a healthy and active lifestyle.

What is the downtime?
It is a day care procedure, so you can go home after surgery after few hours of rest and even return to work within a few days. A special elasticised pressure garments (sort of sports bra or shaper) are usually kept for several weeks. There is no requirement for admission in the hospital as you can go home either on the same or after 24 hours of rest in a few instances. The overall goal of your plastic surgeon and the entire staff is to make your surgical experience as easy and comfortable for you as possible.
