Why Tummy Bulge Refuses to Go Away?

Do you recall your college days when you were skinny and had slimmest waist you could ever have, despite the fact that you uesd to eat all your favourite foods and still were under-weight? But those days are a distant memory now. Now that you have started your family and are in your 30s, its easy to gain weight too quickly. The reason behind this is our metabolism that changes with age. As we age, our metabolism slows down and it becomes extremely difficult to get rid of extra fat paunches & specially the tummy bulge, no matter how hard we try!

In fact, fat collection over the tummy region is the most common problem at this age, and it bothers more than 90 percent of Indians (both men and women) at this point of their life. A tummy bulge is more likely to show up with slightest of weight gain, and also it becomes harder to get rid of hanging tyres of tummy after major weight gain or pregnancy. Some people are born with own genetic characteristics that make tummy area fuller and heavier even if they are not over-weight. Factors like genes or pregnancy changes are beyond our control, but what else can you do to make tummy bulge be gone forever?

You might be searching about ways to get rid of tummy bulge desperately, but there are few essential facts that you should know before deciding, pointed in short below-

Non-surgical ways like Slimming Belts, shapers, Creams/Oils/Capsules etc. are NOT helpful
There is so much misleading information in the markets regarding over-the-counter products, such as slimming belts, heating or vibrating belts, oils and capsules/pills for reducing fat/weight-loss. These are absolutely pointless and unscientific; they only waste your money and time. Instead you can invest your money and time to some exercise and good dieting regimens that at least have a scientific point to reduce some weight. You should remember that hanging pouch of tummy consists of more skin rather than fat in lower tummy area which will NOT respond to ANY other plan because it needs direct removal to get back the normal shape, and it can only be done by tummy-tuck.

Healthy Diet and Active Lifestyle are Important
Tummy-tuck cannot help you if you solely rely on it, you need to understand that there is no substitute to a healthy lifestyle because a tummy-tuck can remove the fat and loose skin from outer layer of your abdomen, but if you have fat surrounding your internal organs (intestines, liver etc) then it cannot be removed. Internal fat needs to be reduced with a healthy and active lifestyle. So if you’re planning to have a tummy-tuck, it is best to start a healthy routine as soon as possible. If you need help to start a routine, see our tips here.

Inevitable Tummy-bulge post childbirth/major weight loss
Pregnancy and childbirth affect tummy shape as the body undergoes a variety of changes very quickly such because extra weight is stored throughout the body. Though making an extra effort in eating right and proper exercise can help shed some of excess pregnancy weight after your baby is born, the bigger issue, however, is loose and hanging skin folds. Abdominal tone can be improved with exercise, but the skin is another story. Once the skin has been stretched out to the point where you have stretch marks, it is injured and cannot shrink back with exercise. There are also abdominal muscle injuries that can happen when the abdomen is very stretched out by either having carried twins or a very large baby or after multiple pregnancies where the muscle actually separates at the midline.

There is a Permanent, Scientific & Safest Solution
The good news is that tummy-bulge can be permanently fixed by a tummy-tuck which a cosmetic surgical procedure to fix extra tummy fat, loose skin and muscles (all three layers). A Tummy tuck can help you to remove or to thin out most of the flab and bulge scientifically from the tummy region. After childbirth, it is not uncommon to have loose, hanging skin and abdominal muscle bulging out that make you look still pregnant. This skin expansion and muscle separation can be reduced through a full tummy-tuck which is a combination of liposuction + tightening of abdominal muscles + removal of extra skin. The additional advantage of a tummy tuck is that it can also remove some of the stretch marks from your lower abdomen area. The ideal body for this procedure is of those women who exercise regularly and avoid junk food. Regular exercise and healthy eating habits are recommended even after these procedures to maintain the results lifelong.

Secret of Ever-Young Modern Moms

You watch these ever-young modern mommies who look like they are still 21 years old even in their late 30s or even early 40s? Such moms often get the compliment that she doesn’t look like a Mommy and you wonder how she manages to look flawlessly young, slim-fit and attractive after having kids? The answer can be a secret Mommy Makeover. In fact, it is the answer to most of the post-partum complaints against undesired physical changes such as loose breasts, hanging tummy bulge, flabby arms, isolated fat pockets, facialaging and genitals appearance related issues. If you miss your pre-pregnancy body and how great your figure used to look before childbirth, it’s a time for you to consider a Mommy Makeover.

Many of us wonder how our celebrety moms return to their pre-baby figure instantaneously. Well, we have to remember that each of us recovers from pregnancy at different rates and it is important to understand that all transformations take time, life style changes and lots of efforts but when nothing helps, a mommy makeover comes to rescue. The term "Mommy Makeover" is coined for any procedure, or collection of cosmetic procedures designed to help restore woman’s pre-pregnancy figure. Though Mommy Makeover was conceived for young mothers who want to look as good as they did before pregnancy and childbirth, women of any age who wants to improve their appearance can opt for a variety of correctional procedures.

A Mommy Makeover includes Breasts Lift to lift loosely hanging breasts, which can be combined with Augmentation (implants) if fullness is lost and Lipo-Abdominoplasty (Tummy-tuck) which is for getting rid of hanging bulges of tummy area. Further arm lifts, Face lift and neck lifts are also in the makeover list to achieve overall balanced and attractive figure.

On the other hand, slightly bulging out lower abdomen is a general tendency in 90 percent of Indian females that never settles down completely through exercise or dieting. The worst part of this pattern of fat collection is when girls start gaining weight with time even in their teenage or early twenties, fat starts to collect in their waist region very fast making this area protruded like 4-5 months' pregnant women that is certainly an undesirable thing. If you are having trouble in accepting such unattractive shape of your belly, you will find a tummy-liposuction really helpful. Liposuction is the easiest way of reducing isolated pockets of fat from anywhere from the body (such as love handles, flabby upper and lower back, thighs etc).

Women’s genitals change over their life span. Pregnancy, childbirth, ageing, genetics, trauma, deformity and sexual activities are responsible for such changes in the female genitals that sometimes are unpleasing and make women feel conscious about its’ shape (asymmetry or irregularity), may feel lack of sensation and sexual gratification or may even hesitate to establish a relationship. VaginalRejuvenation is popularly known for physical benefits of vaginal rejuvenation - to plump, tighten or reduce the shape- whatever is desired for more youthful, uniform, aesthetically pleasing appearance private parts, and these intangible effects greatly impact woman’s quality of life as well. This procedure can help women enjoy physical activities more, move on after a relationship ends, and feel more self-assured and attractive.

The time required to recuperate after a Cosmetic Surgery may vary from two days to several weeks depending upon procedure. For example- the hospital admission required in a tummy-tuck is 1-2 days while you can go home at the same day after a session of liposuction.

Are you good candidate for Liposuction?

People often wonder they will benefit from liposuction or not, or whether they are good candidate for it? To answer this question, I simply tell them that If you follow a healthy lifestyle (regular exercise + healthy diet) and still have some isolate fatty areas in your body that don't go away (such as tummy bulge or thighs or arms) then liposuction can be really helpful. But it is definitely not suitable for people who are overweight or looking for weight-loss because LIPOSUCTION IS NOT A WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY. The goal of liposuction is get you rid from bulges of stubborn fatty areas that do not respond to diet and exercise.

A Tummy Bulge is Inevitable with Age, Weight gain and Childbirth. But How can you get Rid of It?

As a woman, there comes a time in your life when you realize that efforts at dieting and exercise are not changing the appearance of your sagging and protruding belly, even men in their 30-40s notice a pot belly coming that refuses to budge with diet or exercise alone. This is a very common problem, especially in women after childbirth- a bulge tummy is more likely to develop, no matter how slender or fit you may be otherwise. Men cannot exclude from this as it’s a general tendency with Indian men that they develop a pot belly in their late 30 or early 40s and almost 90 percent of Indian women (whether they are married or not) have their lower abdomen slightly bulging out that never settles down completely. The worst part of this genetic fat collection pattern is when you start gaining weight with time even in your early twenties, fat starts to collect in your waist-line very fast making this area protruded like -4 months' pregnant women or having a “food-baby” inside that is certainly an undesirable thing. This problem can affect your overall lifestyle and many times self confidence is marred by the disproportionate contours of waistline. As a result, you start feeling conscious and hesitate wearing outfits that highlight your waist; even many women wear the skirts and saree above the waist to hide the bulge and men fail to hide their tummy bulge in fitted T-shirts so all you do is bid adieu to such popular clothing. But is there anything that can help to budge that tummy bulge and make your clothes fit you again? The answer is Yes, actually this is the ideal situation for Tummy-tuck because your tummy requires some extra help to fix all three layers (abdominal fat, muscles and loose skin).

People often say that they have No Time for Exercise because they are too busy. Well, if you’re not determined for an active and healthy lifestyle, then nothing on earth can help you with reduction of fat because healthy diet and regular exercise is not an option to excuse but a lifestyle modification.”- Dr. R. K. Mishra.

Tummy tuck is only suitable for those who live a healthy lifestyle (regular exercise and healthy diet) because people who eat right and exercise regularly have good abdominal tone (and almost no fat in internal organs like intestines, liver or heart). Tummy-tuck cannot remove fat from internal organs, only diet and exercise can do that. It can remove the pockets of stubborn fat, loose skin and stretched muscles that refuse to get back their shape with diet or exercise but not helpful if you rely on this procedure completely.

5 Things No One will tell you About Liposuction

Both men and women undergo liposuction to achieve a variety of different goals. Some people want to look better in a swimsuit, while others want to find jeans that fit more comfortably. Liposuction is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures; as such, chances are you’ve asked yourself the simple question: “Is Liposuction right for me?” There are misconceptions about reasons for Liposuction and whether liposuction will produce results as desired. If you’re considering liposuction, you should be aware of popular myths and facts about it.

Myth-1: Liposuction can be a substitute to diet and exercise.
Fact: Liposuction is NOT intended to replace the routine of healthy diet and regular exercise; in fact it is equally important. Exercise helps you to tone your overall body, prevents fat deposition in internal organs (such as intestines, liver, heart etc) and liposuction improves your body’s shape by removing unwanted fat pockets from localized areas (such as abdomen, thighs, hips, and arms) that still retain fat in spite of regular exercise. Liposuction should ideally be used after you’ve established a healthy lifestyle (stable weight, regular exercise, healthy diet) that you can maintain even after liposuction. In fact, doing so is essential in maintaining the results of liposuction.
Myth-2: Liposuction is a short-cut to weight loss.
Fact: Liposuction is NOT a short-cut to weight loss. In fact, it is particularly suited for men and women who are close to their ideal weight but have isolated, uneven fatty areas on their body that never go away with exercise or diet. It is not a solution for obese person whose main goal is significant weight loss.
Myth-3: Liposuction will change your life apart from the change to your body.
Fact: Make sure you want liposuction for the right reasons to address as problem area on your body and not just as a quick-fix for your life’s problems. Liposuction will not “instantly fill you with confidence,” though it can help with that aspect of your life as long as you maintain realistic expectations. Liposuction can only alter you physically, and though you may feel more confident after having the procedure done. If you are prepared for the fact that your life will not change magically overnight, then liposuction may be right for you.
Myth-4: Liposuction will cure cellulite or reverse all the signs of aging on your body.
Fact: Liposuction is not a way to treat loose, saggy skin or cellulite, which is the wrinkling of skin commonly found on lower abdomen, arms, buttocks, and thighs. Older patients with reduced skin elasticity do not often achieve the same results as younger patients, as the best results are produced when the procedure is performed on firmer, more elastic skin. People with sagging loose skin may need other procedures with liposuction to reduce extra skin such as tummy-tuck and arm lift. Liposuction offers an additional help by removing extra fat from your body and make you look overall fit.
Myth-5: Liposuction can make you look like models.
Fact: Liposuction cannot make you a different person. It is basically you get what you come with. People often wish to get an hourglass figure or six-packs but such things depend on many factors that are beyond your control like your body structure, inherited traits, genetic predispositions and life style etc. If you expect to get an improved version of yourself, then liposuction can be helpful.

Liposuction and Weight Loss

People often start watching their body weight right after liposuction and wonder why the numbers are not going down as they expect. First of all, it’s important to remember that liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure. Best for removing small pockets of fat, liposuction gives patients better body contour and a shapelier silhouette, but is not meant to help you lose pounds.
I tell patients to avoid the weighing scale for 1-2 month after surgery because the body is in healing mode from surgery stress and can cause you to retain water (which could translate to increased pounds). Once the body realizes you are fine the water will come off. Maintaining a balanced diet and following your doctor’s prescribed post-op instructions will also help you on the right track toward a healthy recovery.

Get Rid of Tummy Fat Permanently

People who maintain a steady weight, Women and men who are overweight or of relatively normal weight but having isolated tummy bulge causing their body to appear disproportionate are particularly well suited to tummy-liposuction or tummy fat reduction. Though anyone who is otherwise healthy can go for it and it is possible to undergo tummy-liposuction at almost any age, best results (almost flat tummy) can be obtained if one’s skin still has enough elasticity to achieve a smooth contour following fat removal. Inelastic skin as in some older patients or after in women's tummy after childbirth may not recover well with liposuction alone, making a skin tightening procedure (like abdominoplasty/tummy-tuck) inevitable for better results. Many women do have a hanging pouch of skin consisting of more skin rather than fat in lower tummy after pregnancy which has to be removed directly as this will not be responding to liposuction alone. A tummy tuck is also an option for men or women who were once obese and still have excess fat deposits or loose skin around the belly.

Abdominal Fat Collection: Common Problem with Indian Females

No matter how skinny you may be, if you are a female and your mother has a protruding lower belly then probably you are most likely to have it on your abdomen too. It is a general tendency in 90 percent of Indian females, whether they are married or not. Most of them have their lower abdomen slightly bulging out since the teenage which can rarely be removed through exercise or dieting. And the worst part is when they start gaining weight with time, fat starts to collect in this region very fast making this area more protruding like the 5-6 months' pregnant women. This fat deposition can be removed through Liposuction so easily and it is one of the commonest cosmetic surgery procedure performed nowadays. It effectively removes fat that cannot be lost by diet or exercise. Liposuction is particularly well-suited for men and women who are of relatively normal weight or a little overweight, but have isolated pockets of fat that cause certain areas of their body to appear disproportionate. These localised fat deposits may sometimes be an inherited trait (like lower belly & flanks of Indian females) and typically do not respond to dieting or exercise. Though liposuction is usually not done to reduce the weight in grossly overweight person; however, depending on the amount of fat sucked, 5-15% weight reduction of total weight can be achieved. In addition, the fat cells that are removed are gone forever.
